Indication: |
Prevention of meningitis |
|
Pharmacology: |
N meningitidis serogroups A,C,Y, and W-135 capsular polysaccharide
antigens conjugated to diphtheria toxoid protein |
|
Usual Dose: |
11-55 year-olds: 0.5 mL IM one time |
|
Contraindications: |
Known hypersensitivity to ingredients, including diphtheria toxoid and
natural rubber latex |
|
Warnings: |
Risk of hemorrhage: do not give to patients with bleeding disorders or
on anticoagulant therapy unless benefit outweighs risk
Epinephrine and emergency equipment should be available in case of an
anaphylactic reaction
There are no data on the immune response to the vaccine in
immunosuppressed patients
Safety and effectiveness not established in <11 or > 55 year-olds |
