| Pharmacology: |
Antihyperglycemic; synthetic amylin analog |
| Usual Dose: |
Type 1: 15 to 60 mcg SQ immediately before meals
Type 2, using insulin: 60 to 120 mcg SQ immediately before meals |
| Contraindications: |
hypersensitivity to any ingredients
gastroparesis
hypoglycemia
unawareness |
| Warnings: |
Follow patient selection criteria
Increases risk of severe
insulin-induced hypoglycemia: reduce insulin dose by 50%, monitor blood
glucose frequently
Do not mix with insulin
Caution during lactation
Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients |
